Book 1 Beaver Believers

Beaver Believers: Patrick, Abi & Jacob's Wild Adventures (Book 1)

Written by Dr Sean McCormack | Illustrated by Siski Kalla | Harvest Mouse Publishing, 2025
When their town keeps flooding, three curious friends, Patrick, Abi and Jacob, have a big idea: bring back the beavers! The grown-ups aren’t so sure. Armed with facts, determination and a lot of pester power, the children set out to show everyone how nature’s original engineers could save the day.
Inspired by Sean’s real-life work bringing beavers back to London, Beaver Believers blends a warm, funny story with real, science-based facts about beavers and their habitats. Siski Kalla’s colourful illustrations are full of hidden wildlife to spot. It is a story about hope, teamwork and believing that young people really can make a difference.

Frequently asked questions

What is Beaver Believers about?
Beaver Believers is a children’s picture book by vet and conservationist Dr Sean McCormack, illustrated by Siski Kalla. Three friends use facts and “pester power” to convince the adults in their flood-hit town to bring back beavers. It is inspired by the real Ealing Beaver Project in London.
It is written for primary-age children, roughly 4 to 8, to read with an adult, and confident readers can enjoy it on their own. It works well in classrooms and libraries.
The hardback is available from The Great British Bookshop and Waterstones. The paperback and eBook are on Amazon, and it is also available from BookVault and other online retailers. Schools and shops can order hardbacks at trade discount from Harvest Mouse Publishing.
The characters are fictional, but the story is inspired by Sean’s real work leading the Ealing Beaver Project. There, beavers released in 2023 have helped reduce flooding in West London.
